How to Reject Notification of Incoming Calls on an iPhone Without Rejecting Them

With iOS 14, Apple finally added a small incoming call notification banner on the iPhone. This is an amazing convenience feature because you no longer have an incoming call that picks up full screen when you watch videos, play games, etc. The latest addition to the pop-up call banner at the top and allows you to accept or reject calls or even ignore incoming call notifications on your iPhone without rejecting it.

Over the years, iPhone owners have asked for a better implementation of the incoming call screen. With the iOS 14 update, you can finally ignore the notification of incoming calls on the iPhone without rejecting it and continue your work. Follow the steps below to dismiss the incoming call notification on the iPhone.

Step # 1: Open the Settings application on the iPhone

Tap the Settings icon on the iPhone and open the Phone menu.

Step # 2: Activate the Banner for incoming calls

Under the ‘Allow Phones to Access’ section, tap Incoming Calls and ensure that the option is set to Banner.

From now on, every time you actively use your telephone and incoming calls you will see a small notification banner at the top with the End and Accept buttons. Just swipe up on the call notification and the action will hide the call notification in the background. You can see an indication of an incoming call in the upper left corner.

If you want to go back to the old full screen incoming call notification then slide the call notification and it will return to the old incoming notification screen.

This method also works when you receive calls from FaceTime and other VoIP applications such as WhatsApp, Skype, Messenger, and Viber.

How To Mute Incoming Calls Without Refusing Them

Sometimes, you might just need to mute incoming calls. In such cases, you can use the up / down volume keys and the Power button to silence calls without rejecting them.

When you receive a call, just press the volume up button or the volume down once. Or, you can press the Side key (or the Sleep / Wake button) once to mute a call. After you silence the call, it will keep ringing (quietly) and you can answer if you change your mind.
